Wisteria Flower Festival in Tsushima (Aichi)

While Japan’s Cherry Blossoms might hold the top spot for famous flowers in Japan, the equally ethereal Wisteria can certainly hold it’s own.  Usually blooming from the end of April to early May (right around Golden Week), Wisteria festivals are gaining in popularity with foreign visitors all over the country in recent years.

One of these festivals, the Owari Tsushima Wisteria Festival, is held in Tennogawa Park, in the town of  Tsuchima, about a 25min. train ride from Nagoya Station.

Families, young couples, seniors and school children gather in this park for the event every year to celebrate Japanese Wisteria, which is also the official flower of Tsushima.

If you want to check it out for yourself, here’s a map link for you:

It’s a bit of a trek from Nagoya, but definitely worth the trip out there.  Hope you all have a great week ahead!

Till next time!
